FAQ's

  • Where does the race take place?

The Focus 10K takes place at Borde Hill Garden, Borde Hill Lane, Haywards Heath, West Sussex, RH16 1XP.

  • Is there free parking?

Parking is free. However, we are grateful for any donations to Chailey Heritage Foundation on the day.

  • What time does the race start?

The race village will open at 8:30am for all runners and spectators. The Mini Mile starts at 9:30am while the 10K, 5K begin at 10am. Please allow enough time for registration. The race village closes at 1pm.

  • What are you doing to make sure the event is Covid-19 secure?

We want everyone attending the Focus10k, staff and volunteers to be safe, and the health and wellbeing of everyone attending is our main priority.

In the event that the Focus10k race requires measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19, it is possible that runners and spectators can expect to see:

    • All staff and volunteers wearing face coverings (and gloves if appropriate)
    • Hand sanitising stations available at the entrance and across the race village, with increased attention to good hand hygiene actively encouraged
    • Plenty of space to allow for social distancing whilst queuing and within the race village
    • Marshals policing the queue for registration to ensure social distancing is maintained
    • Additional signage acting as a reminder on all of our COVID-19 policy measures
    • Increased attention to hygiene at the toilet facilities
    • Water stations and finish line fulfilment designed to minimise person-to-person contact
    • A the distanced start to the race, potentially in waves (dependent on numbers of participants and government guidance)
    • Runners may be required to wear a face mask in the queue for the start, but not when running
    • There will be no communal warm up this year. Instead we recommend runners find some space for some stretching and gentle jogging
    • Entertainment in the Race Village will only go ahead if it can be done in a COVID secure manner
  • What if the event is cancelled due to COVID?

If we have to cancel the race due to Covid-19 restrictions enforced by the Government, you will be entitled to a full refund. Please see Terms & Conditions for our full Refunds and Cancellation Policy.

  • Do I need to raise money for charity?

The Focus 10K is a fundraising event for Chailey Heritage Foundation, all funds raised will support children and young people with complex disabilities. We therefore ask you to show your support by raising as much as you can. We suggest a minimum of £10. You can either make a donation when you register, or can raise sponsorship from your friends, family and colleagues by setting up a Just Giving page. It’s really easy to do and we are delighted to help if you need it. We will also be offering some exciting incentives for fundraising.

  • Are spectators welcome?

Absolutely! Please come and cheer on your friends and relatives and soak up the atmosphere in our race village. Please observe social distancing where required.

  • What facilities are available?

Our race village has everything you need before and after the race. There will be toilets, hot and cold drinks on sale, some well-earned nourishing food. There will be merchandise on sale and an exciting prize draw.

  • Where can I buy t-shirts?

We hope to have t-shirts on sale soon and will let you know via email and on social media when they are ready. We will have water bottles and bags on sale on race day.

  • Who is the event supported by?

Chailey Heritage Foundation are very grateful to headline sponsors Focus Group, event sponsors E3 Events for producing the event and Borde Hill Garden for the use of their spectacular grounds. Thanks also to Gemini Print, Batcheller Monkhouse and Jel Fitness.

  • Do I need to bring water?

There is one water stop on the 5k course and two on the 10k course. Water is available for all runners at the finish.
We had hoped to be kinder to the environment in 2021 by using tap water and asking you to bring a bottle or cup to fill yourself. However, in order to keep you COVID safe by minimising points of contact, we are reverting to single use bottles or cartons this year.

If you think you may need extra water please bring your own.

  • Can I change my race distance?

You can change your distance but you will only be eligible for chip timing for that race if you let us know in advance (this can be up to 15 min before the race starts). No refunds will be given. If you want to up your distance a premium of £8 will be payable.
If you change your distance during the race your chip time may not represent this and you will not be eligible for any prizes.

  • Virtual Race - how do I upload my evidence of completion?

You can send a screen shot from your running app to focus10@chf.org.uk or upload on our website. If you have any difficulties with this, please get in touch and we will be happy to help.
